At its inception, the University of Arizona Science and Technology Park housed two companies with slightly more than 800 employees. Today, it is home to 40 high tech companies and business organizations with more than 7,000 employees.

For fifteen years, the Tech Park has contributed to regional economic development by advancing the University of Arizona’s research mission and its efforts at technology development and technology commercialization. Annually, the Tech Park contributes nearly $2.5 billion to the local economy and is one of the region’s largest employment centers. The University of Arizona Science and Technology Park has been nationally recognized as one of the premier university research parks in North America.

On January 13, 2009, we will celebrate the Fifteenth Anniversary of the University of Arizona Science and Technology Park. During this event we will celebrate not only the successes of the park over the past decade and a half, but we will also look forward to the next fifteen years. The theme of the event is the "Tech Park and its Next Big Idea."

The day will begin at 10:30 am in the cafeteria with a tenant recognition and employee appreciation event. This event will include food, entertainment, employee giveaways and games.

In the evening, from 5:00 - 7:00 pm, we will host a gala reception for members of the community including tenants, university officials, representatives of the business community, government officials, and park partners and supporters.

Also joining us will be some of the officers and board members of the Association of University Research Parks (AURP).
